A Fear Factor Reboot Is Coming This May To MTV
It looks like The Fate of the Furious is not the only thing Ludacris fans have to look forward to. The rapper-turned-actor will host MTV’s reboot of NBC’s hit early 2000s show, Fear Factor. The gruesome game show series, which originally aired between 2001 and 2006 on NBC, is making its official resurgence this coming May.
Previously hosted by Joe Rogan, the show was picked back up in 2011, but later cancelled in 2012. Now, MTV has taken over and plans to revise the unscripted series in a way that will appeal to the ‘new generation’.
Chris ‘Ludacris‘ Bridges will serve as an executive producer as well as the new host for the Fear Factor revision. According to Variety, Bridges will also bring some sort of ‘musical element’ to the show, but we’re not exactly sure on what that is going to be just yet.
As you all may remember, the original Fear Factor focused more on contestants going against each other to see just how grisly one could get. Former contestants were dared to eat everything from dead bugs and animal organs to even indulging in life-risking stunts. So, of course, you can definitely expect that and more this time around. The only difference is that, with this new show, the challenges will be inspired by classic horror movies and viral videos online.
The new hour-long Fear Factor will premiere on MTV, May 30th at 10/9c!
