If you’ve wondered where rapper/producer Kid Cudi has been, well, he’s aboard Knuckles now.
The ensemble of Knuckles, which is the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog spinoff series from Paramount+ and SEGA, has expanded to include the ‘Man On The Moon’ rhymer, along with Julian Barratt, Ellie Taylor, and Edi Patterson. Idris Elba will return as the show’s iconic red Echidna.
In addition, Adam Pally is set to reprise Walt Whipple from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Tika Sumpter will play Maddie opposite Rory McCann as a guest appearance.
Knuckles accepts Wade’s offer to train him as his apprentice and instruct him in the ways of the Echidna warrior in the Knuckles spinoff, which is presently in production. Wade will be followed by Sonic’s nemesis on this action-packed voyage of self-discovery.
The third movie, scheduled for release on December 20, 2024, which includes Shadow the Hedgehog, will be the series’ prequel and will take place after the sequel movie.
Kid Cudi Joins Sonic the Hedgehog Spinoff Series Knuckles
For the show, the main creative crew from the first two Sonic movies is expected to return, including Jeff Fowler, who’s in place to helm the pilot.
Elba will executive produce alongside Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, and John Whittington. Other Knuckles directors are Carol Banker, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Ged Wright.
The series’ chief writer is Whittington, who also penned Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and the pilot. James Madejski and Brian Schacter are two more series writers.
At Paramount Global’s Investor Day event on February 15, 2022, Brian Robbins (Chief Content Officer of Movies & Kids & Family and President and CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon) made the original announcement about the spinoff series.
For a total of more than $405.4 million, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 earned more than $190 million domestically and more than $214 million abroad.
The movie is one of the most popular movies on Paramount+ and the best-performing Kids & Family title on the platform.
