Tupac Shakur‘s sister has stepped out of the shadows to address her brother being compared to Donald Trump — and let’s just say, she’s not thrilled!
The late rapper’s sister responded to recent remarks equating him with the 45th President of the United States and called the comparison “blasphemous.”
The remarks were made by Trump’s attorney Alina Habba yesterday (April 3), who said that the real estate mogul’s indictment in New York City puts him on par with Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur.
On the podcast The Benny Show, Habba made the connection and asserted that Trump’s legal troubles will only help raise his profile, much like past celebrities who gained popularity after doing jail time.
“Donald Trump is Tupac. Donald Trump is Biggie Smalls. Donald Trump is his own brand. He is everything. This is just going to boost him. We have seen it in the polls. This is not a question. This is a fact,” said the lawyer to Benny Johnson.
Tupac’s Sister Speaks on Trump Being Compared to Her Brother
Set Shakur, Tupac’s sister, expressed her disapproval of the lawyer’s comments after they were made, saying that her late brother’s fame came from the strength of his music, not from any controversy.
Speaking to TMZ, she said, “My brother was measured by his integrity, his principles, and personal and collective responsibility.”
She continued by saying that the two cannot be compared since, whereas Tupac accepted responsibility during his 1994 sexual abuse trial, she hasn’t yet witnessed the same from the former president.
Shakur furthered, “[Fans] were able to measure him by his words and actions that aligned.”
Trump became the first former US president to be charged with criminal wrongdoings last week after being indicted by a Manhattan grand jury.
