Jay Sean’s All or Nothing is a collection of material that is brilliantly executed and polished. His foray into the United States has been a pleasant one, scoring a #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 with “Down,” and the second single, “Do You Remember,” a blend of reggae, pop is also edging its way up the charts.

The selections unfold with “Do You,” a tightly wound piano driven piece that salutes the singer’s vocal tone. This same concentration is put forth on “If I Ain’t Got You,” a jeweled metaphor on love that is complemented by a quick verse by rapper, Drake.

All or Nothing‘s esteemed cut is “Ride It,” which also appeared on Jay Sean’s second album, which was only released in the UK. The rhythmic percussion adds meaning to Jay Sean’s instrument making for a fresh and crisp expression.

“War” is a song where Jay touches on the subject of unresolved conflicts in families and countries. He was quoted as saying the song was “about real life.” All or Nothing‘s closer, “Lights Off,” ventures into a production kingdom as Jay’s vocals are engineered with wizardry and auto-tuned liveliness. It is a decent close; although one of All or Nothing‘s other energetic pieces could have easily fit.

It appears from this album that Jay Sean is Cash Money Records new R&B superstar. The whole set of songs are packaged around a laid back crossover appeal that radio has a thirst for.
