On January 24, the popular urban media website World Star Hip Hop.com was shut down for what is rumored to be copyright infringement. World Star, which was the most visited hip hop website in the world featured music videos as well as user submitted videos around the world. The twist in the shutdown of the site is the supposed involvement of rapper 50 Cent in World Star’s demise. 50 tweeted:
“I don’t know why people underestimate me. I just shut down WORLDSTAR for future advertising contact thisis50.com suckers lol. “I put worldstar to bed, you don’t believe try me I will shut your sh*t down. Lol.”
He also claims that he is having similar websites shut down as well under that basis that his image is being used with permission. News of the end of World Star has created a buzz over the internet with “World Star Hip Hop” becoming a trending topic on Twitter. A rapper having a hand in shutting down a popular website is a major story, it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

WorldStar, which is/was the most visited Hip-Hop website in the world, featured music videos as well as user-submitted videos from around the world. The twist in WorldStar’s cause of shut down is the supposed involvement of rapper 50 Cent.

50 Cent tweeted about WorldStar’s alleged copyright infringement:
