Nicki Minaj left some of her most devoted fans feeling jilted on December 25th at the Nicki Minaj Hot 97 Christmas Extravaganza. Although it was advertised that the Queens female rapper would be “hosting” the event, the 2500 anxious fans that packed New York City’s Webster Hall were expecting a performance. Hot 97’s DJs Funkmaster Flex, Magic, Spynfo and Young Chow entertained the crowd on the turntables.
Arriving hours fashionably late, cheers emerged from the crowd when Nicki was spotted in the balcony area of the VIP section at approximately 3:30am. When the crowd realized that there was not going to be a performance, they began to boo the Young Money Princess. A shocked Nicki Minaj was handed a microphone and then asked the crowd, “Did you all think this was going to be a performance?”
Moments later she appeared on stage only to greet the crowd while some of her newer tracks played in the background. A few female fans were selected to join Nicki on stage and dance to “I Endorse These Strippers”, a song from her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded -The Re-Up album. Coinciding with the lyrics “I bust a band in the VIP/my money can’t fit in clips”, Nicki threw a wad of crisp Benjamin Franklins at the amateur dancers before exiting the venue.
