It’s been a long week for Young Thug.  He announced the release date for his album, which is this coming Friday, April 17th.  In releasing the date he also confirmed the title would be Tha Carter 6, paying homage to Lil’ Wayne’s Tha Carter Series.  The only problem is Lil’ Wayne doesn’t necessarily appreciate it, especially considering that his latest album Tha Carter V continues to be delayed.

Back in March, Lil’ Wayne’s daughter took shots at Thug, questioning his motives via twitter.

“Is he trying to be funny with this Carter 6 ? Cause it’s pretty childish to me ! #myopinion”
“Try again if you’re even trying to get on my fathers level.”

This week, Lil’ Wayne took his own shots at Thug at a show in Florida.

“I want y’all to do me a favor and stop listening to songs of n*ggas that pose naked on they motherf*cking album cover…”

Young Thug Replied to Weezy via Instagram a couple days later:

I respect @liltunechi for being someone so big in my life, no matter what he say .. #c6otw

The funny thing about all this is that Young Thug initially announced the title of his album last year.  He made it clear that Weezy was his idol and that he hoped to continue Tha Carter series releasing 6 – 10.  Thug began working with Birdman and the Rich Gang crew, and that led to Thug and Wayne collaborating on the song “Take Kare.”  I get the feeling if things were fine with the YMCMB camp, this wouldn’t be a problem for Lil’ Wayne at all…
