The Fall of Lamar Odom

File this under very unfortunate news.  Former NBA star Lamar Odom was found passed out and unable to breathe on the floor of a Nevada brothel Tuesday, according to the NY Daily News.  But how did it get this far?!

Odom who recently went through a messy divorce from reality star Khloe Kardashian, after it was revealed that he had developed an addiction to cocaine, has been having a bad couple of years.   The downward spiral came pretty abruptly for an athlete that was part of the 2004 U.S. National Team that participated in the Olympics and bought home a bronze medal from Athens.

Lamar Odom  won NBA championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010 and he was even the NBA’s 6th Man of the Year in 2011.  But he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks the following year, who placed him in the D-League when he became unproductive.  The Mavericks traded him to the Los Angeles Clippers in hopes that being back in the big city would help him return to his prime but that didn’t happen either.  Last year, in 2014 the Knicks signed the forward thanks to his relationship with Phil Jackson.  The Knicks released him four months later.

Odom married Khloe Kardashian in 2009 and the duo launched their own reality show, Khloe & Lamar in 2011. The pair were seemingly inseparable for 2 years.  They even launched their own fragrance, Unbreakable by Khloe & Lamar.  Still, in December 2013, Khloe filed for divorce.  The divorce was made official this past Summer.

Now, Odom finds himself here.   Odom was found at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada.  Drugs were found on the scene.  “This is serious,” Hof told the Daily News. “He might not make it.”  Odom is now in a Las Vegas hospital where he was airlifted for more treatment.

This story is eerily reminiscent to the Bobbi Kristina story.  She was found unconscious earlier this year and unfortunately never woke up from her coma.  Sad stories.
