Tisha Campbell-Martin Snags Role in ABC Drama Pilot Centering Five Black Female Officers
Tisha Campbell-Martin is coming back to the small screen. As reported by Deadline, the Dr. Ken actress has been cast as a series regular in an upcoming ABC drama pilot from CSI: NY showrunner Pam Veasey, Robin Roberts, and Regina King.
“[I’m] so excited to be working with @iamreginaking, @reinaking11, @robinrobertsgma, and #PamVeasey!!!!” The 49-year-old wrote on her Instagram.
The untitled project—in conjunction with ABC Studios, follows the lives of the Holmes sisters—five African-American women who are all NYPD officers, as they navigate through the everyday challenges of their fast-paced jobs while struggling to balance the overwhelming responsibilities of marriage, motherhood, and all things in between.
Campbell-Martin will portray Sgt. Anise Kendrick-Morrison, a tough cookie with a witty, outspoken sense of humor. Morrison, one of the five sisters and the first to join the force, patrols her childhood neighborhood in Queens.
Based on a true story, the series is written by Pam Veasey and set to be directed by Regina King. They will also serve as executive producers, along with Robin Roberts.
