Timothy J. Wilson just has the soulful gene that so many musicians desire. Having grown up just 20 minutes from New York City in White Plains, NY, he’s been predispositioned to some of the best talent in the world. Wilson is the son of a preacher, and even grew up playing the drums in his church band. As a child, he trained his voice and developed his beautiful vocals over time by joining several singing groups.

“We’d sing at various church functions around the New York Tri-State area, and I was always the leader, the one deciding on our moves, what we’d wear, rehearsal times, etc..  From there I started writing and recording my own songs in my home studio which was like a Tascam Multi-Track Recorder, and it was something that I was born with a passion to do”.

His proximity to the city led to him garnering performances at renowned venues such as Café Wha? (keep in mind, this is where Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and others once played), the Village Underground, Justin’s, Club Groove, The Soul Café, Wilson’s, The Sugar Bar, and many others.

Wilson’s unique style is what sets him apart from others, and even he describes his music as a “mix of R&B, funk, and soul packaged in a Rock-N-Roll presentation with energy and influences from Stevie Wonder, Prince and Michael Jackson”. With amazing musical talent in every aspect, he offers a set of skills very few others have. In 2012, his first LP, Kiss Me, was released after his relocation to Georgia.

After selling 1,000 copies in just under five months, he was able to secure another string of performances at famous venues. This exposure has helped build his fan base into something amazing, as his listeners are addicted to his soothing voice that often sings of love and triumph. He performed at Apache Café, Urban Grind, Kennesaw State University, Jamaica Flava, The Sweet Auburn Spring Fest, Salon Moraee, The Dogwood Festival, Kat’s Café, Centennial Olympic Park, Marlee’s Coffee & Tea House, and Georgia State University, among other venues.

In 2013, Timothy J. Wilson was able to release his second EP, titled Born To Love. It saw considerable success, as his fanbase had recently jumped prior to its release. This is due to his casting as a guest singer on Queen Latifah’s famous BET show “Let’s Stay Together”. Make no mistake, though. Wilson’s not in it for the money or fame. He’s here to create beautiful music and to reach people.

“I’m really in it for the music. I truly love making, creating and performing the music. So many people are in it for reasons that often time have nothing to do with the actual music, but I’ve been a student of it practically from birth. I’m constantly learning, studying and reading so that I can become the best artist that I can be. My message is one of move, and from all sides of that word. The caring, giving side, the sensual, sexy, romantic side and of course – God is love.”

The following years included countless hours of hard work and dedication, and also a few other unique ventures. Citing it as the coolest thing he’s ever done with music, in 2014 Wilson was able to land a spot as Earth, Wind, & Fire’s legendary bassist Verdine White in the Warner Brothers film, “The Nice Guys”, which starred Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. The film released in 2016.

During this time, Wilson didn’t slow down his music production at all. His third EP, LOVESONGWRITER, was dropped to the public in May of 2015, with a follow-up coming out in November. The fourth EP titled BEATS, BASS, PARTY was a perfect preview to his first official studio creation. A full-length album, The Unplugged Sessions was released in May of 2016.

Now, he is working on a new single to come out in a few months. In the meantime, like normal, he’ll continue pleasing thousands at his concerts with his astonishing guitar and vocal skills. Classifying himself as a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Wilson is holding himself to the standard of becoming one of the top entertainers in the world within the next 10 years, all while relaying love and passion to his listeners.
