Akon held true to his promise to release much more music than fans are accustomed to.  The world music star has released his second album this month, in his second genre.  The Akonda album is an Afrobeats album, taking Akon to his roots for the first time on a full length album release. The Akon Akonda album was released on Friday October 25th.

Back on October 4th, Akon released the Spanish language album, El Negreeto.  The album was the first of its kind for Akon, and the first of a number of releases he plans to put out this year on his new venture, Akonik Label Group.  Akonik is a partnership with former CEO and President of Motown Records Kedar Massenburg. Akonik Label Group is comprised of four record labels each focusing on specific genres: Akonda (Afrobeats), Akonik (U.S.), Ke Lo Ke (Latin music) and Jamakon (Caribbean). El  Negreeto hit #1 on the APPLE Music Latin Charts, making Akon the first African American to have a #1 Latin Album.

The Akon Akonda album features the single, “Wakonda.”  While it is technically the bonus track, Akon did reveal a video for the lead single.
