If it’s been a while since you’ve redecorated your home, you’re not alone: close to half of all Americans haven’t spruced up their interior design for at least five years.  A big part of that is not having enough resources that provide home redecorating tips.

The good news is redecorating your home doesn’t require spending a lot of money on furniture and renovations. A few minor affordable changes will give your home a whole new look and feel.

Here are five home redecorating tips that will freshen up your residence.

  1. Repaint the Rooms

Paint is easily the best way of giving a living space a new vibe without breaking the bank. Lighter colors can instantly make a room feel bigger, while a brightly colored area has the power to energize.

Painting the walls in neutral shades such as off white or light grey will offer more versatility for your furnishings and accessories. These colors can help the hues of your furnishings and rugs pop.

  1. Create a Welcoming Entryway

The inside of the front door entrance is often neglected when it comes to decorating. Yet you can use this bit of space to set the tone for the rest of your home and make guests feel welcome.

Start with a mirror, bench or chair, coat rack, and shoe tray so you and others can sit down to remove footwear and outerwear. This area is also perfect for a side table decorated with photos or collectibles and a piece of artwork.

You may also want to paint your front door a fun color and place a mat and some flowers down to keep it friendly and cheerful.

  1. Do a Major Decluttering

Few things can ruin a home’s interior more than clutter. Whether it’s your kids’ toys, old magazines, or knick-knacks, if it doesn’t belong in the room, we say remove it. Try to keep everything stored in its proper place.  Better if you have access to a nearby dump, you can get it online and have the folks at https://eagledumpsterrental.com arrange a dumpster in your location.

When decluttering you may need to stay strong about recycling, donating, selling, or throwing away unnecessary items. If it has no sentimental value, ask yourself if you really need to keep it. If you can’t bear to part with something, at least invest in storage products like the ones sold by Regal Bazaar so they’re out of sight and mind.

Decluttering will help you see more of the room so you can focus on decorating it.

  1. Splurge on One Furniture Item

Whether it’s a rug, chair, or coffee table, sometimes buying one new piece of furniture can tie the room together in a new way. It can also open up new complementary color and accessory possibilities.

  1. Breathe Life Into Your Walls

Are things looking a little too bare around you? A few carefully placed mirrors and pieces of artwork will liven up your walls. A large mirror or painting can even make the room look larger.

Another perk to incorporating mirrors and art into your living space is that it’s easy to move them around and experiment with them until you find the right look.
