I wasn’t sure if I should do a normal breakdown for the D’Angelo Verzuz, because I really didn’t know what to expect.  Unlike the other Verzuz, D’Angelo was offered up as a solo artist with a promise of “Friends”.  There was no real telling who was coming, but the mystery made it exciting enough to see where things went.

The D’Angelo Verzuz was taped live from the world famous Apollo Theater.

D’Angelo released his debut album, Brown Sugar back in 1995, featuring the title track as the lead single.  Other singles from the album included “Lady,” and “Cruisin'”.

Five years later he released his sophomore album, Voodoo.  The album featured his iconic single, “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”.  “Devil’s Pie” and “Left and Right” were among the other singles on the project.

His third album, Black Messiah with The Vanguard, was released in 2014.  It featured the single, “Really Love”.
