But, upcoming women in Hip-Hop are demanding attention as well, letting their music speak for them with hit songs. Most recently four women made the cover of the 2021 XXL Freshman cover for the first time, but Carla G. now seems like a glaring omission.

“Waffle House” comes from her recently released project, a 12-song playlist titled, Stop Wasting Pussy. The title speaks for itself, but the project is all about women’s empowerment.  On the title of the project Carla G. says it means, “as women we cannot accept less, or settle for less. We have to know our worth and capitalize off it.” The message is relatable to women all over the globe. “(SWP) was created to empower women. I feel like often women live in a space where it is hard to be ourselves unapologetically,” Carla G. shared.
