Colin Kaepernick has announced that his publishing company, Kaepernick Publishing will be collaborating with Scholastic, to release a children’s book titled, I Color Myself Different. The book, illustrated by Eric Wilkerson will be released on April 5, 2022.

The former NFL Quarterback released a full statement speaking on how personal it was for him to create the children’s book. “This story is deeply personal to me and inspired by real events in my life. I hope that it honors the courage and bravery of young people everywhere by encouraging them to live with authenticity and purpose.”

Kaepernick also talked about his excitement for the aforementioned collaboration with Scholastic. “I’m excited for Kaepernick Publishing to be collaborating with Scholastic on books with black and brown voices at the forefront. I hope that our books inspire readers to walk through the world with confidence, strength and truth in all they do.”

The book should be a really good read for Black and brown children and show them how to be proud to see the reflection of themselves in the mirror even if the odds are stacked against them in society and he’s showing that he wants to be an influence on those kids life’s as they read the book.

Kaepernick is also well known for the bravery and courage of his own because he put his NFL career on the line by fighting for justice and against police brutality kneeling for the national anthem which has taken place around sports leagues especially after the George Floyd which sparked a lot of activism around the world last summer. Meanwhile none of the NFL teams have called up the 33 year-old for a role on their team.
