Winter is just around the corner, in 3 short months it will be freezing cold outside, while we stay warm in snug jumpers with the heating turned all the way up! That means that it is almost Christmas time, while we’re still a few months away, it’s never too early to start your Christmas shopping to spread out the cost of Christmas.

If you’re buying gifts for friends and family, you have a lot of options to choose from, but one of the best gifts you can give this year is smart home gadgets, thanks to advances in technology, smart home gadgets are now very affordable and make for great presents as they’re very useful and have a slight novelty feel to them.

So what are the best smart home gadgets you can buy for your friends and family this year? Let’s find out.

Smart Speaker

When it comes to smart home gadgets, smart speakers like the Amazon Alexa are the best place to start out – most other smart tech will connect to a smart speaker, so for smart home newbies this is the best place to start. They’re also incredibly useful and can be used as a virtual assistant, being ready to help plan your day, check the weather, cook food or even order shopping.

While smart speakers were considered somewhat of a luxury when they first came onto the scene, they’re now incredibly affordable, with some older models costing less than a meal out, which makes smart speakers a good gift which is cheap and useful.

Robot Vacuum

No one likes doing chores around the house, it takes up your time and sometimes can feel like it’s more effort than it’s worse, so why wouldn’t you want to give the gift of having one less chore to do each week?

This is where robot vacuums or Ecovacs come into play, these little robots will go around your home and vacuum whilst they’re moving along. Robot vacuums still come with a bit of a hefty price tag, so they’re not as affordable as other options on this list, but a robot vacuum like a Roomba will certainly be a great gift for your friends or family.

Electronic Blinds

Electric blinds are relatively new on the ‘smart home’ scene, but have become incredibly popular in the past year. These are motorized blinds which can be controlled by a remote control or in some cases by voice command, meaning you can adjust your blinds without having to leave your seat.

Electronic blinds are relatively cheap (for window blinds at least) which can make them an easy gift, but the utility of being able to remotely adjust blinds is what makes this gift special, even more so if your friends or family have mobility issues or hard to reach windows.

Smart Tiles

Smart tiles are the perfect gift for that friend or family member who is always losing stuff, smart tiles are small trackers which can be attached to almost everything. These tiles have Bluetooth trackers in them meaning whenever you loose an item they’re attached to, you can find where they are from an app on your phone.

These smart tiles can also be found online for a very cheap cost, which will make them a nice gift for almost anyone and certainly a funny gift if you gift one to that friend who is always loosing their keys.
