Tyler Lepley addresses baby’s mother, April King?! Yep… you read it here.
If you are not familiar with the hit STARZ tv show P-Valley, then you may need an introduction to Mr. Tyler Lepley. The celebrated actor portrays one of the series’ hottest characters, Diamond.
Lepley recently sat down with The Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy and Charlamagne tha God with guest host Jess Hilarious, to talk about how he became one of the faces of the critically acclaimed P-Valley, his love life, and more. The 35-year-old opened up about what it was like to let go of his dream to play professional football and what lead him on the path of acting and entertaining within the field of performing arts.
Lepley was born on March 24, 1987, in Philadelphia, PA and is best known for his portrayal of Benjamin “Benny” Young on Tyler Perry’s prime-time soap opera The Haves and the Have Nots, which was the first scripted project to air on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
During the interview, Lepley got candid with Charlamagne about his audition for the role of Benny on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots. He said he was quite surprised when Perry came to the audition dressed as Madea, “Yeah that was crazy!” he said. Lepley also appeared in the 2013 comedy Baggage Claim starring Paula Patton.
In early 2016, Lepley booked the lead role of Jaxon in the made-for-television film produced by Swirl Films and directed by Russ Parr, Ringside. The film premiered in September 2016 on TV One. His costars included Everybody Hates Chris actor Tequan Richmond and R&B singer Sevyn Streeter. In 2019, Lepley was cast as a regular in the STARZ drama, P-Valley, and in 2020, he snagged a spot in Harlem, a Tracy Oliver Amazon comedy series.
During The Breakfast Club episode, guest host Jess Hilarious admitted to knowing Lepley’s ex-girlfriend/baby’s mother, April King, rather well and brought up an instance in which Lepley’s current mate, model/influencer Miracle Watts, may have slighted his ex. Jess was referring to a previous social media exchange between Watts and King, where Watts affectionately claimed King and Lepley’s children as her own. King wasn’t too fond of that and had some things to say in the comments of the Instagram post.
Jess asked for an update on the matter between the two women in his life, in which Tyler expressed his love and respect for both Miracle and April, as the mother of his two older children, and is only striving for peace in each relationship.
Lepley has also released new songs, which he talked about in the interview. He went a little deeper into what made him try his hand at music and what we can expect from his project, Just Because.
