Kanye West’s antiSemitic controversy is still at an all-time high.

A recent Instagram post from the rapper, claiming that watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street made him “like Jewish people again” is not enough to erase his history of prejudiced comments toward the community, according to prominent Jewish organizations.

StopAntisemitism and the American Jewish Committee have demanded more concrete actions from West to prove his sincerity in his newfound feelings toward Jewish people.

Liora Rez, the Executive Director of the watchdog group that named West the “anti-Semite of the Year” for 2022, also responded to the “Donda” lyricist’s post. She stated that “joking about a movie with Jonah Hill is not the apology that the Jewish people deserve from Kanye, particularly when his anti-Semitic tirades continue to have a dangerous trickle-down effect of hatred against Jews.” Additionally, she called on West to denounce white nationalist Nick Fuentes and publicly renounce his anti-Semitic remarks.

The American Jewish Committee also expressed skepticism toward West’s sincerity and demanded that he explain and apologize for his repeated and threatening expressions of anti-Semitism.

Only a few months ago, he professed his love for Hitler and tweeted about going “death con 3 on Jewish people,” which makes the Jewish organizations’ reactions even more understandable.

Despite their reservations, both organizations are willing to meet with West to discuss further steps toward making amends.

If you didn’t know, West’s social media accounts were closed after a string of anti-Semitic postings. He was even banned from Twitter after the declaration of wanting to commit “death con 3 on Jewish people.”

His contentious statements led to the termination of all his collaboration agreements, and his fall from grace stripped him of his billionaire status.

While some are happy that West has finally “changed his mind about Jewish people,” others are still side-eyeing the Yeezy founder’s intentions, especially given his previous actions. The Jewish organizations believe that West has a lot more to do to prove that he is a changed man, but will he prove it is the question.
