Mary J. Blige Will Have To Pay $30K In Spousal Support To Estranged Husband, Kendu Isaacs
New problems have arisen on Mary J. Blige‘s home front. According to a report made by TMZ, the Hip-Hop Soul singer has been ordered to pay her soon-to-be ex-husband, Kendu Isaacs, $30,000 a month in temporary spousal support. As if the millions of dollars the two both owe back in taxes and the $420,000 Isaacs allegedly blew frivolously during their marriage wasn’t enough, Blige is now responsible for even more costs.
Though lower than Isaacs’ original outrageous request of $129,000 a month, the $30,000 is still nowhere near good news for Blige. Ruling in Isaacs’ favor, additionally, she will also have to pay retroactive spousal support, dating back to September, and his legal fees. Altogether, that sums up to a total of $235,000.
While Isaacs feels entitled to some sort of monetary support, Blige begs to differ. Although he was her manager, during their marriage, Blige says the $420,000 he spent was not business-related or pertaining to her at all. In fact, she says that he spent the money on his new girlfriend. Hurt husband or greedy opportunist?
“I am not responsible for supporting [Isaacs’] parents and his children from another relationship which he lists as ongoing monthly expenses.” Blige previously stated.
After twelve years of marriage, the 46-year-old filed for divorce last July. Since then, the drama surrounding the publicized separation has spread like haywire. Fortunately, for them, the two share no children together. We’d hate to see innocent bystanders caught up in such havoc.
However, though things aren’t ending so well, Blige says that it’s the best that has happened to her in a long time.
“This is probably one of the best things that happened to me in a long time–this divorce, because it’s really showing me how much love I didn’t have for myself and how much I need to really love myself.” She stated in an interview with The Breakfast Club.
Hopefully, Blige and Isaacs will soon be able to find common ground and come to an agreement. It’s always disheartening to see divorces end so nasty.
