Are DaBaby’s legal troubles getting worse? Here’s what we know…

DaBaby has landed himself in hot water over his 2020 assault case. It has now moved into the civil legal arena, and the penalty may be severe.

Court documents obtained by Radar Online reveal that the tumultuous rapper (born name Jonathan Kirk) has been accused by Gary Pagar and his attorneys of withholding key evidence related to the vicious alleged assault of Pagar at a video shoot back in 2020.

DaBaby Allegedly Attacked Pagar at a Video Shoot

In Pagar’s civil suit, he alleged that DaBaby and about 40 people descended on his home in Los Angeles, CA, to record a music video, which he claims was against the terms of their initial contract. When Pagar confronted DaBaby about the shoot, the North Carolina native allegedly socked Pagar in the mouth with a closed fist, causing him to lose several teeth.

Pagar is alleging that the “Ball If I Want To” rapper is in possession of photos and videos that show Pagar’s said assault. Pagar and his team are demanding DaBaby turn over this crucial evidence, but he has refused because he has also been charged, criminally, with felony assault with reference to this matter, per Radar Online.

Are DaBaby’s Legal Troubles Getting Worse? The Hard Truth…

DaBaby’s team has concerns that the criminal case, which is still pending, may be jeopardized unfairly should their client submit to the discovery demands or deposition requests.

This isn’t the first time that the rapper’s representatives have requested a continuation in the civil matter.

Last February, attorneys for the North Carolina rapper filed a motion requesting a delay in his courtroom showdown with Gary Pagar. The man filed a lawsuit against DaBaby in February 2021, claiming he was assaulted for simply enforcing “basic rental rules” at his North Carolina property, which DaBaby was leasing.

A hearing in the case had been scheduled for April of this year, however, DaBaby’s lawyers maintained that they have to give precedent to a criminal case surrounding the same incident over Pagar’s civil suit.

DaBaby’s Legal Troubles Include Felony Assault

DaBaby was charged with felony assault in April of last year, for allegedly punching Gary Pagar during a dispute over the unauthorized video shoot at his home.

The new legal documents filed by DaBaby’s attorneys stated that he “cannot be called to testify in this matter until after his criminal case has been resolved, which will not be until October 2023, at minimum.”
