A wax statue of DwayneThe RockJohnson, which was recently unveiled at the Grévin Museum in Paris, France, has been the subject of jokes from fans.

Johnson was interested in the response after comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr. criticized the contentious wax figure on Instagram, saying the WWE star’s skin tone makes him look like “David Beckham or a member of the Royal Family.”

Sunday night (10/22), Johnson posted the following on his personal Instagram page: “I knew my boy @jamesjeffersonj had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshairs.”

The joke by Jefferson, “Is this how y’all felt when you lost the Little Mermaid?” was in reference to an African American actress (Halle Bailey) being casted as Ariel in the 2023 redo of the Disney classic, and the Jumanji actor claimed he “belly laughed” at the remark.

Jefferson pointed out the wax figure’s unsettlingly pale skin as he continued, “It looks like The Rock ain’t ever seen the sun a day in his life in this picture.”

The pro wrestling champ shared, “For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at “updating” my wax figure here with some important details and improvements- starting with my skin color.”

The Black Adam star, whose dad was a Black Nova Scotian and mom is Samoan, furthered, “next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself.”

Since last week when it was debuted on Grévin Museum’s official Instagram page, the internet has been making fun of Johnson’s wax figure.

The Grévin Museum provided the following comment to Deadline: “Dwayne Johnson is right and we noticed it and will obviously remedy it as quickly as possible and send him new photos once completed. We are waiting for him when he will come to Paris and the Grevin Wax Museum to celebrate that with a cup of champagne.”
