Social media reacts to feds investigating DJ Envy at iHeartRadio and the jokes are endless.

*Update: Envy’s lawyer Massimo D’Angelo told TMZ Hip Hop that no equipment was taken by the Feds during their visit to iHeartRadio. Officials were only at the studio to inform Envy that Cesar Pina was arrested.

Feds investigated DJ Envy at iHeartRadio’s New York office in connection to his business partner, Cesar Pina, getting arrested on Wednesday, October 18th. Pina was arrested in connection to an alleged real estate fraud case, where he hustled dozens of people out of millions of dollars claiming that he could help them flip houses in New Jersey.

According to NBC New York, “Cesar Pina, often promoted on Envy’s syndicated iHeartRadio show ‘The Breakfast Club’, was arrested Wednesday on wire fraud. The federal complaint against Pina, 45, claims the man engaged in a Ponzi-like scheme to defraud dozens of victims. Envy, whose real name is Rashaun Casey, was not charged. But many of the alleged victims say they were influenced by his celebrity… A source familiar with the investigation said the iHeartRadio offices were visited by federal officials who removed electronic equipment as part of the ongoing investigation.”

In true internet fashion, especially on X, formerly known as Twitter, users had a field day cracking jokes.

DJ Envy isn’t the only celebrity who has been in connection to fraud. This year alone, G Herbo pled guilty to wire fraud; Former NFL Cornerback Buster Skrine Arrested on Fraud Charges in Canada and Detroit Rapper CrèMe Receives Prison Sentence for $27 Million Tax Fraud Scam. But why?

According to The Atlantic, “Some researchers believe that stars’ disproportionate involvement with people derided as scammers is a symptom of how the brutality of fame can change people’s psyches. For certain celebrities, an increased vulnerability to scammers and sycophants might be baked into the reason they pursued fame in the first place. Research has found that even if people who seek fame for fame’s sake don’t fit the parameters of a full-blown diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder, they are still more likely to exhibit narcissistic traits, such as grandiose self-regard or a lack of consideration for others. ‘They’re always scanning the environment to get as much attention, adulation, and admiration as possible to feed this hole that never gets filled,’ says Donna Rockwell, a clinical psychologist whose work specializes in the phenomenology of fame. That leaves them vulnerable to opportunists willing to tend to their immense psychological needs.”

Do you agree with Rockwell’s comment? How do you feel about DJ Envy’s connection to his business partner’s fraud case? Do you think Envy should be held accountable since he promoted Pina’s investment? Let us know either in the comments or on social media.
