Gillie Da Kid’s son YNG Cheese has been laid to rest in his Philadelphia hometown, about a week after the 25-year-old died at the hands of gun violence.

The triple shooting was initially reported by NBC10 Philadelphia, which reported that it took place on Thursday night (July 20) on the 5800 block of Mascher Street in the Olney neighborhood at 8:24 p.m. A 25-year-old man, believed to be Gillie’s son, was shot once in the back and taken to the hospital by police, and was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m.

A 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were also shot and taken to the hospital, with both men being placed in stable condition. Police said one of the victims ran to a nearby home and 10 spent shell casings were found at the scene. No arrests were immediately made, and no weapons were recovered.

Cheese, whose born name is Devin Spadey, was laid to rest at The Met in North Philadelphia on Monday (July 24), per CBS News. Hundreds of mourners attended the service to pay their respects, and speakers took a moment to acknowledge that there needs to be more done to stop gun violence within Philadelphia.

The Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcaster did not speak publicly during his son’s funeral.

Gillie Da Kid’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host and cousin Wallo had previously taken to Instagram following the tragedy to pay tribute to his little cousin YNG Cheese.

The tragedy comes shortly after Gillie Da Kid, who now calls himself Gillie Da King, offered an impassioned plea after a mass shooting in the city left five people dead, including a 15-year-old boy.

“We looking real sad out here, Philly,” he said in part. “Eight n-ggas shot outside out West, four n-ggas dead, two kids, shot somebody grandmom. When the fuck n-ggas’ kids and grandmoms been on the menu? When is n-ggas’ grandmoms and kids been on the menu, man?”

Another sad tragedy to account for in one of our communities! We send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Gillie and his son YNG Cheese.
