Social Media Reacts to the Black Music Honors Keri Hilson Tribute

Keri Hilson crush

The 7th Annual Black Music Honors Keri Hilson tribute caused a social media uproar. Keri Hilson started trending on Twitter after fans learned that she was recently honored at the Black Music Honors for the Music and Songwriter Icon Award. The two-hour event was syndicated nationally on Saturday, June 4 – Sunday, July 3, and on Bounce TV on Saturday, June 25.

Now I’m not sure why the Hilson tribute video clips from June 4th caused a public reaction on July 7th, but here we are. While Keri Hilson has made some unpopular public opinions about Beyonce, Ciara, 5G, and Rachel Dolezal, she has written some popular songs for some of our favorite artists.

Keri Hilson Credits

Keri Hilson has major songwriting credits with iconic artists including Britney Spears’ “Gimme More,” Mary J. Blige’s “Take Me As I Am,” Ludacris’ “Runaway Love,” and Usher’s “Love in This Club.” She also has a co-establishing songwriting/production collective called the Clutch, whose credits include Jesse McCartney (“It’s Over”), Omarion (“Ice Box”), and Ciara (“Like a Boy”), according to Reuters. Not to mention she has her own hits with songs like “Turning Me On,” “Knock You Down,” “Energy,” and “Pretty Girl Rock.”

Social Media Reactions

Social media had mixed reactions to the Black Music Honors’ Keri Hilson tribute. On my timeline, there were mostly Keri Hilson appreciation tweets about her tribute and a few tweets that expressed shock and disappointment. The latter is mainly because some people believed there were other songwriters who deserved the recognition more than Hilson.
