Larenz Tate Is Tired Of Questions About ‘Love Jones’ Sequel

Larenz Tate tired of Love Jones 2 (sequel) questions

Die-hard fans of the cult classic film Love Jones have been waiting for a sequel since the hit movie came out in 1997. However, Larenz Tate is in no rush to answer questions about it. As a matter of fact, he said he’s tired of the questions. The legendary actor revealed this during his latest interview with AL.com.

“I’m tired of people asking me about Love Jones 2” he said, adding that he just wants to jump into production of the movie.

“I just want to go ahead and put that to rest and get into production.” he told the outlet.

The classic film also stars legendary actress Nia Long (Nina) who played Larenz’ (Darius) love interest. Although the two had great chemistry on-screen, the Chicago-born actor thinks it would be difficult to recreate that same exact moment again.

“It would be hard for us to catch lightning in the bottle twice,” he said. As such, Larenz added, he and Nia feel they should do “something different.”

“Nia [Long] and I have been trying to figure out what that would look like. But we feel like we should do something, but something different. TV show, movies that could be a franchise–we’ve discussed everything. We talked about all kinds of stuff because we know what Love Jones meant, we know what those characters meant, and we know what the message and the story meant to us. And we don’t want to disrupt that, we don’t want to shake that up, and do something that doesn’t live up to our expectations of our audience would want from us.”

Larenz additionally described his character, Darius, whom is reportedly one of the favorites he’s played in a movie.

“He’s smooth, he’s forward-thinking, he’s not perfect, but he loves to love,” he said.
