Lizzo Quits Music, Here’s Why…

Lizzo is seemingly ready to throw in the towel and kiss the industry goodbye. Today, the “It’s About Damn Time” star made a very emotional Instagram rant declaring that she “quit,” blaming “bullying” and “lies” for her decision.

“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,” she wrote in her post. “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”

Lizzo continued, sharing that she’s been constantly battling rumors spread about her that are all about “clout” and “views.”

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views…being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” she wrote.

The Detroit native concluded her message of frustration saying, “I didn’t sign up for this sh*t—I QUIT.”

Lizzo’s Instagram rant came as a shocking surprise, as she seemed to be very calm and collected despite the controversy surrounding her name dating back to Summer 2023. She’s been making posts about her brand “Yitty” and recently shared that she’s been writing some really good music. However, things aren’t always what they seem.

In case you missed it, the 35-year-old has remained more low-key than usual since August of last year. That month she was sued by three of her former dancers for allegedly cultivating an “abusive work environment” and body-shaming them. Lizzo publicly responded to the suit via Instagram on Aug. 3 saying,

“My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized,” adding that the accusations against her are “sensationalized stories.”

“Sometimes I have to make hard decisions but it’s never my intention to make anyone feel uncomfortable or like they aren’t valued as an important part of the team.”

Despite the drama, Lizzo managed to uphold the image that she’s unbothered by it all but it seems that wasn’t the case. Thankfully, she has supportive fans who ran to the comments and ensured her that whatever she chooses to do will be best for her.
