Raphael Saadiq is an R&B legend, a mainstay with decades and decades of quiet dominance on the entertainment industry. Back in June, the singer has announced that he was returning to the forefront with the release of his first solo album in eight years.  The new Raphael Saadiq Jimmy Lee album was released on August 23rd.

The 53 year old, Oakland native emerged on the scene in the 1980s with his group Tony! Toni! Tone!, and they released their debut album, Who? in 1988.  A decade later he was working as part of a newfound trio named Lucy Pearl.  By the time he went solo in the early 2000s, he was a household name.

Back in 2011 Raphael Saadiq released his fourth solo album, Stone Rollin’, led by the singles, “Radio” and “Good Man”.

In recent years he has turned his focus to film and television projects. He is the music director of HBO’s ‘Insecure’ series and he worked on music for Netflix’s Mudbound film, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. Saadiq also executive produced Solange’s critically acclaimed album, A Seat At The Table.

As fans gear up for the Raphael Saadiq Jimmy Lee album release, the singer unveiled his lead single, “Something Keeps Calling”.  The track is a rhythmic ballad that true Saadiq fans will love. The track features Rob Bacon, DJ Quik’s longtime guitarist.

Kendrick Lamar and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest also make appearances on the album.

The second single from the project was “Glory To The Veins.”

He quickly followed that up with “So Ready.”
