FOX Cancels ‘Rosewood’ Series After Only Two Seasons

FOX Has Done Away With Rosewood Series

After only two seasons, FOX has officially put a red light on their police procedural drama series, Rosewood. Starring Morris Chestnut, the hour-long series focused on Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr., a private Miami-based pathologist, who works in the demanding field of law enforcement. Rosewood premiered in September of 2015 and finished off their second season this past April. Each season held twenty-two episodes, totaling to forty-four in all. However, we’ve unfortunately learned that the network has now decided to cancel the Rosewood series.

Originally starting out with a Wednesday night 8/7c timeslot, by the end of season one, Rosewood took a huge decline in numbers. Our guess is because of poor timing. Maybe? Well, that’s only an assumption. But, we do know that Empire is also another one of FOX’s Wednesday night leading series, dominating the whole network and most of its viewers, in a way. Could that have played a part in Rosewood‘s sudden downfall and lack in numbers? It makes sense.

Season two of Rosewood began airing episodes on Thursday nights, then later switched to Friday nights. Yet, the numbers still continued to decline, gaining negative reviews from a few critics.

The sudden news has disappointed many Morris Chestnut fans, but, we’re glad to know that the actor seems to be in pretty high spirits about the departure.

He took to Instagram to express his thoughts. Here’s what he had to say…

I am very grateful about the part that everyone took in Rosewood’s journey, because everyone was truly an integral part; the writers who crafted great story-lines, the actors who brought these stories to life, the production crew who sustained the show’s infrastructure, and the terrific fans who embraced this phenomenon and became just as much a part of Rosewood as anyone else. FOX provided a platform for a show that made strides in diversity and the images it projected as all-inclusive. We were able to peer into the lives of characters who displayed their hopes, dreams, courage and fears. Rosewood also helped reinforce a newer definition of Family, as a group of people who most care for and support one another. The #Rosewood family, itself was an Extremely Special group of people who’ll be friends forever. This is not only a part of the industry, it’s a part of life.
