As far as Hip Hop goes, Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, Jermaine Dupri, and The Neptunes are already in the illustrious Songwriters Hall of Fame. And now, a Super Bowl Halftime Show stage Crip Walker has been added to the list. The Hall has just announced Snoop Dogg, CEO of Death Row Records, is among this year’s group of inductees. Folks seldomly refer to the “Gang Signs” rapper as a songwriter, however, his catalogue is far-flung and undisputable. Along with Snoop, Sade Adu, lead vocalist in the band Sade, was also inducted into the exclusive group.

Soldier Of Love (2010) was the last project Sade released commercially, and lately there’s been hearsay of the band’s return. Thereby, the timing of Sade Adu‘s induction is pluperfect. Other Hall inductees this year include Teddy Riley, Gloria Estefan, Liz Rose, and Jeff Lynne. Teddy Riley, a former member of bands Blackstreet and Guy, in essence crafted new jack swing, a Rhythm and blues subgenre. Riley made classic records with the likes of Michael Jackson, Heavy D, Bobby Brown, Doug E. Fresh, Keith Sweat, and many others.

Gloria Estefan getting into the Songwriters Hall of Fame is historic, for she is the first Hispanic woman to be inducted. Estefan said on Wednesday, “To be the first of anything at this age is fantastic.” The famed songstress has won eight Grammy Awards, has sold over 100 million records globally, and is the sultry voice behind killer records such as “Rhythm is Gonna Get You” and “Anything for You.”

The Songwriters Hall of Fame accredits writers with momentous catalogs, and they’re qualifiable for induction 20 years following their initial hit. A gang of writers were nominated this year, however, when the votes boiled down they were passed over; brush offs consist of R.E.M., Bryan Adams, Heart, Vince Gill, Patti Smith, the Doobie Brothers, Steve Winwood, and Blondie. Congratulations to Snoop Dogg, Sade Adu, Gloria Estefan, and Teddy Riley for their inductions into The Hall.
