Yikes! In today’s episode of things we didn’t know, T-Pain explained that he doesn’t make much money from his hit record “Buy You A Drank.”  The T-Pain Buy You A Drank publishing is certainly not what most fans would think.

He went into detail about it while streaming for Nappy Boy Gaming.

“…looked up the publishing on ‘Buy You A Drank’? Bro, like publishing-wise I probably get like no money from ‘Buy You A Drank.’ So all those things that I said in ‘Buy You A Drank’ that was from other songs…when ‘Buy You A Drank’ like blew up-blew up, all them people and writers from them other songs said they were old…I was like ‘what the fk?!’ I was like paying homage and st.”

T-Pain continued breaking down the different lyrics he had in his hit 2007 song, adding that writers and artists came for him although he was simply “paying homage.”

“So like, money in the bank, ‘I got money in the bank’…Scrappy and his writers came for that, on ‘snap your fingers do your step,’ Lil Jon and E-40 and everybody on that song came for me. ‘Walk it out,’ Montay (Humphrey) got a credit on that b**tch, I was like god damn! What’s going on?…it’s OUR money in the bank,” he added with a laugh.

The Florida musician kept things lighthearted with the caption of his Instagram post saying, “‘We’ got money in the bank I guess [laughing emojis] Those publishing splits can get the best of us.”

Naturally, fans and listeners of T-Pain were shocked and had a lot to say about the matter.

“They said ‘We gone buy you a drank.. we gone take you home with us’ [laughing emojis]” @iamjeyume commented.

“I hate the music industry. You can’t even use words no more. They be like, ‘you said THE.’ That’s mine,” @clevelandterry_ wrote.

“Nah some of those legit but half of that they finessed you it sounds like. I get that you did what you felt was best to keep things smooth though,” @leauxfi said.
