Los Angeles, California, based Haltere Group is a pioneering real estate syndication company with a mission deeply rooted in empowerment and inclusivity. Comprised of a dynamic team of accomplished HBCU alums, Haltere Group stands as a beacon of opportunity, offering access to high-value real estate assets once reserved for only the largest investors. The group is dedicated and committed to reshaping opportunities for Black communities.

The Haltere Group was founded by a team of four professionals, each with over 15 years of experience.
Dennis Earls – Chairman / CEO,
Anthony Tabor – President / COO,
Marceid Hatcher – Chief of Real Estate Development, &
Ennis Williams – Chief Compliance Officer

Dennis, a seasoned commercial broker, Anthony, a skilled mortgage lender, Marceid, a construction expert, and Ennis, a wealth and financial planner.

We had the opportunity to talk with the team to discuss their mission and much more.

Parlé Mag: How did you all initially come together to form the Haltere Group?
Anthony Tabor: The genesis of the Haltere Group can be traced back to the collaborative efforts of its four founding partners. Drawing on a rich history of professional collaboration spanning 12-15 years in various real estate endeavors; such as flips, purchases, refinancing, and smaller syndication deals, the trio of Earls, Hatcher, and Tabor recognized the potential to consolidate their expertise.

…The catalyst for the group’s formation was the unique circumstances presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, which prompted the partners to convene virtually through a Zoom meeting. This gathering became a forum for brainstorming and exploring avenues to leverage their collective skills effectively. It was during this pivotal conversation that the trio identified a missing element in their synergy, leading them to extend an invitation to Ennis Williams as the fourth partner.

Parlé Mag: What were you setting out to accomplish as a team with the launch of the Haltere Group?
A.T.: The overarching goal of the Haltere Group emerged from the realization that our combined capabilities could be harnessed for the greater good. With a commitment to excellence, the founders set out to establish a company that not only maximized their individual skill sets but also addressed a perceived gap in the market. Envisioning themselves as thought leaders and facilitators, the group aimed to provide exceptional opportunities, education, and services to their sphere of influence, friends and family, which became the initial investors. Their motivation stemmed from a recognition of the need for representation and leadership that resonated with their community. Thus, the Haltere Group was born as a vehicle to deliver impactful solutions and contribute meaningfully to the real estate landscape.

The decision to launch the Haltere Group was prompted by the founders’ shared vision of providing exceptional opportunities, education, and services in the real estate landscape. Their goal is not only to maximize individual capabilities, but also to address a perceived market gap, fueled by a commitment to excellence. Envisioned as thought leaders and facilitators, the group aims to fill a need for representation and leadership within their community, aspiring to contribute meaningfully by delivering impactful solutions and making a positive difference for their sphere of influence, friends, and family.

Parlé Mag: Talk to me about the company’s mission and vision?
Mikáel Pyles (not a founding partner, but a partner nonetheless, as well as VP of the company): With decades of experience enriching clients, corporations, and other non-familial beneficiaries, the founders of Haltere Group decided to consolidate their areas of expertise and refocus their energy on building a company that could directly impact the lives of their families and their communities. With this goal in mind, the company mission became clear — to help our investors create generational wealth via real estate.

…Historically, access to true wealth creation has been systemically guarded and reserved for a small, disproportionate fraction of society. Haltere’s vision is to combat these socioeconomic constraints by creating a platform that not only educates individuals from all walks of life on the benefits of owning high-value real estate, but enabling them to actually participate in the acquisition of these assets.

Parlé Mag: What sets the Haltere Group apart from other similar real estate companies?
A.T.: The Haltere Group stands out in the real estate arena due to a unique combination of factors that define our identity. As a proudly Black-owned and operated entity, we bring a fresh perspective to syndication groups, particularly for those within our community who may be less familiar with this innovative approach.

…Our commitment extends beyond financial transactions; we prioritize knowledge-sharing and education, consistently exceeding the expectations of our investors. Over the past three years, we have distributed nearly $600,000, reflecting our dedication to their financial success.

A key factor that truly sets us apart is the extensive experience of our four founding partners. Each partner brings 15-20 years of expertise in their respective fields, adding a wealth of knowledge to our core business. Their collective experience forms the backbone of our dynamic and comprehensive team. Moreover, each partner is not just a vital part of our leadership but also a seasoned real estate investor.

This wealth of experience enables us to excel in various real estate sectors while providing invaluable education to our investors. The Haltere Group’s collaborative and informed approach creates a holistic experience for our stakeholders, contributing to our sustained success in the real estate industry.

Parlé Mag: What are some of the key elements that are looked at when seeking a future investment?
M.P.: At Haltere Group, we subscribe to the age-old adage that “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Hence, we follow a very disciplined and meticulously planned investment thesis that guides and governs our approach to any prospective investment. Our ideal properties are core plus multi-family assets that have 100 units or greater, are located in Class B and C locations with a minimum CAP ratio of 6% on actual rents, and are at least 85% occupied.

The aforementioned criteria are just a few key considerations amidst a stringent and comprehensive list of factors that we adhere to when conducting property analysis and research. Ultimately, our goal is to only acquire assets that will strengthen our portfolio and bring significant financial gain to our investors.

Parlé Mag: Let’s discuss the H.O.W. with Haltere Podcast… What are your future plans and/or goals throughout 2024 and beyond?
M.P.: We created the “H.O.W. with Haltere Podcast” (H.O.W. stands for ‘Helping Others Win’), as a modern platform to educate our audience on such topics as financial literacy, real estate, community building, entrepreneurship, etcetera. Our podcast’s goal is simply to help the community—especially underserved communities—increase their knowledge and awareness of various important subjects that will ultimately assist with self-improvement, financial empowerment, and upward mobility.

In 2024, we have huge plans to take the podcast to the next level and increase our audience exponentially. One of the initiatives that we are most excited about centers around HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). We plan to offer internships to college students attending HBCUs, so they can get firsthand experience helping our creative team produce, record, and distribute our podcast— all while earning class credit. Furthermore, we also plan to record some live episodes on campus at select HBCUs with Mass Media departments and studio facilities.

Parlé Mag: Where do you see the Haltere Group in five or maybe even ten years from now?
A.T.: The future for the Haltere Group is incredibly promising, and I envision nothing but limitless growth ahead. In just three short years, we have successfully built a robust $35 million real estate portfolio, a testament to our strategic vision and dedicated efforts.

Our expansion includes the launch of Haltere Development, currently engaged in negotiations to spearhead the construction of student housing for some of our nation’s esteemed Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Simultaneously, we’ve introduced Haltere Living, our in-house management division, tasked with overseeing all our properties, both existing and those in the pipeline.

Remarkably, these accomplishments have been fueled by our initial friends and family rounds of investing. As we venture into the realm of institutional lending, we are poised to reach even greater heights. This strategic move will undoubtedly elevate us to premier status among syndication groups, developers, and management companies in the next 5 to 10 years.

With the sky as our only limit, the Haltere Group is well on its way to becoming a dominant force in our industry. Our trajectory is defined by innovation, resilience, and a commitment to excellence, ensuring that we emerge as leaders in syndication, development, and property management within the timeframe you’ve inquired about. The future holds boundless opportunities for the Haltere Group, and we are excited to embark on this journey of continued success and growth.
