This week, the housing lottery for more than 400 mixed-income units at Mott Haven’s significant waterfront project, Bronx Point, began.

A 22-story mixed-use building with over 1,000 residences, retail space, and the nation’s first permanent hip-hop museum, Bronx Point is situated at 575 Exterior Street.

New Yorkers earning between $18,515 and $198,600 annually, or between a household of 30, 50, 80, and 120 percent of the region median income, are eligible to apply for the apartments, which range in price from $465 for studios to $3,332 for three bedrooms.

The Universal Hip Hop Museum is part of the complex, which was created by S9 Architects, and is scheduled to debut to the public in 2024 after topping off in May 2022.

The first institution of its kind in the nation, the Universal Hip Hop Museum acts as a “living document” that traces the development of hip hop in the Bronx where it all set off more than five decades ago.

Residents at Bronx Point can use the on-site laundry, a community center, a gym, an outdoor area, a kids’ playroom, an outdoor terrace, and a 24-hour safeguarded lobby.

In a statement, Josue Sanchez (L +M Development Partners senior director) said: “The opening of the affordable housing lottery for Bronx Point brings us one step closer to welcoming families to this long-awaited, transformative development.

“Bronx Point is a first-class community-based housing development that brings some incredible amenities to the neighborhood – a new park and esplanade along the Harlem River waterfront, the future home of the world’s premier hip hop museum, dynamic retail spaces, and an educational early childhood center.”
