Earlier this year, TV One began filming a movie in Atlanta circled around the life and career of Bobby DeBarge, simply titled The Bobby Debarge Story. The biopic is set to come out on June 29th of this year.
Casting for the movie includes Roshon Fegan aka ROSHON, who gets the honor of playing Bobby DeBarge. A singer and actor, Roshon has released several singles and has made several television appearances over his career. He’s most known for his role as Ty Blue on Disney channel’s ‘Shake It Up‘.
Tyra Ferrell will star as Etterlene DeBarge, Blue Kimble portrays Tommy DeBarge and Adrian Marcel will star as James DeBarge. Big Boi from Outkast will be in the movie as well, playing the great Berry Gordy, and singer Lloyd will play Gregory Williams of the legendary Switch.
The story of Bobby DeBarge consists of him creating his own style of music, which helped influence an entire generation of artists. DeBarge also had some demons of his own trying to fight his drug addiction along with an addition to sex, which later caught up with him as he died of AIDS as a result.
TV One originally planned to do a biopic on the entire DeBarge family, releasing details in 2017 about the project. The project was eventually delayed and we now have The Bobby DeBarge Story.
On June 29th people will get to see the life story of Bobby DeBarge in full on TV One.
