A well-known actor and a budding star are featured in the 49th season of Saturday Night Live, which premieres on movie screens this month. Comedian Pete Davidson returns to the stage for his hosting debut on October 14, 2023. In addition, Ice Spice, the episode’s musical guest, succeeds in her own career first.
While former Saturday Night Live cast member Davidson returns to a familiar setting, the television role might reveal a fresh ability for the “Munch” hitmaker.
Despite being listed as the performer, the Bronx native frequently participates in at least one comic sketch.
The second episode of the season will have international pop sensation Bad Bunny serving as both the host and the musical guest, according to NBC. Chloe Troast also joins the ensemble as a featured player. The entire ensemble from season prior is back.
Saturday Night Live Returns With Ice Spice
The historic Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which ended last month, occurred at the same time as SNL‘s regularly planned summer hiatus. The revival of the sketch-comedy series does not cross the picket line, according to AV Club, which adds the Screen Actors Guild — American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike is still ongoing.
The outlet claims that the Network Code, not the contract that SAG is striking over, governs how the cast, host, and guests of SNL perform.
According to a SAG-AFTRA statement, “They are not in violation of SAG-AFTRA strike rules, and we support them in fulfilling their contractual obligations.
“The program is a SAG-AFTRA non-dramatic production under a separate agreement that is not subject to the union’s strike order.”
