Raheem DeVaughn Gives Exclusive Preview of Love Sex Passion
On Tuesday, January 20th, Raheem DeVaughn embarked upon Bushwich, Brooklyn for an exclusive album preview and performance at LiveStream Public. Excitement was in the air for fans, music lovers and even for DeVaughn. His fifth album, Love Sex Passion is due in stores on February 17th and his single “Queen” has been generating a buzz for the last couple of months. The intimate event drew media as well as fans who Raheem reached out to personally via social media. DeVaughn also answered questions as part of a live stream for fans online and from those in attendance.
He didn’t play the entire album, instead he picked some of his favorites and gauged the audience to help decide what he would play next. He explained that for this album, his second independent release, he almost went in with the same formula he uses when he creates mixtapes. Additionally he channeled the spirit of the 90s, a period he considers was a golden era for R&B. Some of the songs he played invoked thoughts of Prince, Marvin Gaye, Donnie Hathaway and R. Kelly, including an incredible sample on “Temperature’s Rising,” produced by Travis Cherry.
Other songs introduced from the 17 track set, were, “Black Ice Cream,” an ode to the chocolate women, “Pretty Lady,” the album’s only uptempo song, which features New Orleans veteran Trombone Shorty, “Strip” and one of the crowd favorites, “When You Love Somebody.”
After the Love Sex Passion preview, DeVaughn treated the crowd to a brief performance of some of his hits. It was a brief preview of his upcoming tour, The Intimate Truth Tour, with Ledisi and also featuring Leela James. He performed songs like, “Ridiculous,” “Customer” and “Bulletproof.”
Love, Sex & Passion is available for preorder on iTunes now. Preorder comes with three instant downloads from the album. Preorder the album here… Love Sex Passion
