UPDATE: Did Love & Hip Hop’s Brittney Taylor beat her baby’s father, Afeez Akande?

The reality star has responded to claims of hitting the father of her children with a baseball bat.

In a statement released via Instagram, Taylor wrote, “Speaking of DV. This Nigerian man has been beating on me for Years. He feels like women should obey their man and if they talk back they deserve to be hit. SMH, He’s abusing me mentally and physically. He’s beat me infront of my child more than twice.”

She then cleared the air, detailing the events that (seemingly) led up to the accusations.

“He’s not my baby father. He’s my abuser. Let’s be clear. I never hit him with a bat. He’s a liar. I hit him with a toy because he attacked me and knocked my 82 yr old grandmother to the floor in the process,” Taylor added. “SMH I was wrong for the way I retaliated and I turned myself in like the stand up woman I am and took my charges. There’s not excuse for violence but that was clearly reactive abuse. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH.”

Akande also took to his Instagram and penned a message + (so-called) text message receipts between him and Taylor.

He started off by saying, “To my daughter Legacy, I am so proud to be your dad and will fight tooth and nail, as I have been for months, to have you and your brother in a stable home with me. To my son Lejin, your strength has amazed me every single day since God blessed me with you.”

Akande concluded: “I am so sorry you all have had to endure pain, lies, violence, and deceit at such a young age. Daddy loves you both and will fight even harder to have you both in my arms again World, meet Legacy and Lejin Akande The next generation.”

Additionally, he said that Taylor has sent death threats, due to holding animosity toward the presumed “victim” for no longer wanting to be in a relationship with her.

ORIGINAL STORY:

According to reports, rapper/TV personality Brittney Taylor has been in trouble with the law after supposedly assaulting her kids’ dad with a baseball bat.

According to TMZ, the alleged incident occurred when Afeez Akande, who had been keeping his distance due to unresolved issues with Taylor, flew to New York to visit their children. Akande, the father of Taylor’s 2-year-old and 8-month-old, was leaving his apartment with his kids when Taylor said something he ignored. This was said to have set Taylor off, leading to a physical altercation between the two.

He claimed the 27-year-old punched him in the face while his children were present. She allegedly followed him out of the residence with a baseball bat, hitting him and leaving him with significant facial bleeding and a laceration.

Brittney Taylor Arrested & Charged

Akande ended up in the hospital, receiving stitches for a cut above his eye. Eventually, Taylor turned herself in to the authorities after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She has since been charged with two counts of assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

This is not Taylor’s first run-in with the law. Fans may also recall Taylor’s altercation with Remy Ma, a fellow lyricist and Love & Hip Hop castmate, where she claimed to have been smacked by Remy at a concert. However, those charges were dropped.

She was also arrested in 2019 for attacking a witness of a fight in NYC, where she allegedly clawed a woman’s neck and chucked a cell phone at her head. She ultimately received a dismissal deal, meaning she did not have to plead to anything. It remains to be seen how this latest legal situation will play out for Taylor, but one thing is for sure: she’s no stranger to drama.
