In AARP’s August issue, Sheryl Lee Ralph took a trip down memory lane to talk about her scariest moments as a mother, including when she collapsed after a phone call.
In 2013, her son Etienne got involved in not one but two very life-altering accidents.
She said “When Etienne was in college, he had a car accident and suffered a concussion. It changed his whole brain,”
The Abbott Elementary starlet said “Then he got mugged, and they shot him three times. He woke up in the hospital with two bullets in his leg and a wound in his forehead where a bullet had grazed him.”
When she heard the news, she immediately collapsed.
“(I) collapsed and dropped the phone.“I didn’t even listen to the rest. But they didn’t kill him, thank God,” the Sister Act actress said
“Now he runs his own production company and nonprofit, WalkGoodLA, which is centered around healing, mental health, and overall well-being.”
Despite these challenges, Sheryl Lee Ralph wholeheartedly enjoys motherhood.
Sheryl Lee Ralph is a mother to two children. A son, Ettiene, and, a daughter Coco. She shares her children with her ex-husband, Eric Maurice.
She said “If I had a regret in life, it would be that I didn’t have more children”
“When I met their father, my first husband, I could see my children just as clearly as they are in life right now”
Motherhood was always going to be in the cards for her. She said she “knew I was going to be somebody’s mother” She always refers to her children as “beautiful” and “blessings”. She can always be found with her children supporting her at red carpets and major events.
