Drake is already being called hip-hop’s G.O.A.T. by some—and now they have to put even more respect on his name. Recently, the Toronto native transcended Eminem and Drake became the highest-selling singles artist in the history of the RIAA.

On Dec. 7, Drake was pushed to the top following certifications accorded by the RIAA. 10 new plaques brings the “Jimmy Cooks” spitter total singles sold to approx 184 million. With “One Dance” featuring Kyla and Wizkid, “God’s Plan,” and “Hotline Bling” reaching diamond status, Champagne Papi becomes one of three artists (along with Post Malone and Bruno Mars) to have five singles touch the crowning level.

Seven other Drake bidders ranked up in RIAA qualification, in addition to his diamond plaques. His joint album with Future (What A Time To Be Alive), as well as mixtape More Life, were both officially given platinum status. His projects If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and Thank Me Later too numbered 1,000,000. Tracks that hit a new level of preeminence include also “I’m Upset,” “Nonstop,” and “Controlla.”

With all of his RIAA breakthroughs, Drake displays no signs of pumping the brakes or coming to a halt. The Grammy Award-winning singer put out two full-length projects in 2022 alone. Back in the summer, Drizzy issued the genre-merging Honestly, Nevermind. In November, it was followed by a collaborative project with 21 Savage entitled Her Loss.

What are your thoughts — do you feel Drake is the best rap artist of all time or not quite?
