Gunna has all eyes in Rap on him right now – as his hit track fukumean just recently beat out Search & Rescue (by Drake) as the most streamed hip hop song in the United States from this year.

This shouldn’t be all that surprising given the significant hold that both lyricists now have over the rap genre.

One of the broadest rap conversation subjects was sparked by Gunna’s album Gift & a Curse, which was centered on his plea agreement in the YSL RICO case.

Drake, on the other hand, consistently dominates commercial measures, and it is difficult to surpass him. Perhaps a track (or a few) from his soon-to-be released album For All The Dogs can help him retrieve this honor.

Of course, we haven’t seen these two collaborate in a while because of the aforementioned issue surrounding Gunna’s release.

Gunna Takes Crown From Drake

However, it’s difficult to say whether Drake overtly “picking a side” in the “stool pigeon” discussion is the reason for that. In actuality, virtually little comes from the actual artists and the majority of advancements in that sector center around rumors, bars that are open to interpretation.

For instance, amid all the commotion, Gunna still wished Young Thug a happy birthday at a recent performance.

As fans and listeners, the only thing we can truly appreciate right now is the music itself, and Gunna definitely left his stamp on the music world this year.

In the meantime, Drizzy will probably soon join the discussion about the year’s best rap-related albums alongside Gift & a Curse.

Although Slime You Out, Drake’s most recent song with SZA, took a more R&B turn, there will undoubtedly be some standout verses on this one as well.

But one thing is certain: don’t anticipate this to reduce the popularity of fukumean or Search & Rescue on the aux for the remainder of this year.
