The Changeling, a new drama series for Apple TV+ that stars and is executive produced by Academy Award contender LaKeith Stanfield, has released a trailer.  The Changeling series, which is based on the same-titled best-selling novel by Victor LaVelle, is referred to as “a fairytale for grown-ups… a horror story, a parenthood fable, and a perilous odyssey through a New York City you didn’t know existed.”

The teaser depicts how everything is going well for Apollo (Stanfield) and his beau Emma (Clark Backo) until she gives birth to a boy.

Then, mysteriously, Emma vanishes, strange things begin to happen, and Apollo is forced to embark on an enchanted quest to find his spouse.

Future Islands‘ Samuel T. Herring, Adina Porter (True Blood), Jared Abrahamson (Travelers), Alexis Louder (The Terminal List), and special guest star Malcolm Barrett (Timeless) are all featured in the series in addition to Stanfield and Backo.

The eight-episode series, which was created and adapted by Terra Nova showrunner and executive producer Kelly Marcel, is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, September 8, 2023, with the first three episodes airing worldwide. Thereafter, fresh episodes will air each Friday through October 13.

Ali Krug, Patrick Chu, and Megan Ellison are working as executive producers for Annapurna on The Changeling, which is being produced by Apple Studios and the latter company. The pilot episode is also executive produced and directed by Melina Matsoukas.

Along with Stanfield, LaVelle, David Knoller, Sue Naegle, David Wolkis, and director Jonathan van Tulleken, Marcel also serves as an executive producer. Involved as a co-executive producer is Khaliah Neal.

Perhaps Stanfield’s most well-known role is that of Darius Epps in popular series Atlanta, which aired on FX for four seasons. His filmography also includes Get Out, Sorry To Bother You, and Judas and the Black Messiah, the last of which led to his nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars.
