One of the most historic murders in the history of Hip-Hop has been brought back to the limelight. After 30 years of being an open case, it seems Tupac’s murder may finally be solved.  Yesterday, September 29th, Keefe D (Duane Davis) one of the living eyewitnesses of the rapper’s murder was arrested on charges of murder with a deadly weapon in the fatal 1996 drive-by shooting that killed Tupac.

The hip-hop legend’s feud with Biggie Smalls had been a huge contributor to his murder case not getting solved but there seems to be a lead now, as the Nevada grand jury indicted Keefe right after his arrest.

There are also recent developments in the case: like the authorities finding bullets that don’t match the crime scene in Keefe’s home.

Tupac’s family and friends are happy that justice is finally going to be served. This is what they have to say:

Gene Deal

Gene Deal, Diddy’s former bodyguard reportedly told The Art Of Dialogue that Keefe gave Greg Katie’s account so he could be a free man.

In his words, “If you ever been in an interrogation or anything that has to do with some law enforcement, right? Before they get to that videotape, before they get to that camera, it’s already written down what you’re going to say. They going to tell you what they need for you to say and how they need for you to think and what you need to do to get out this situation.”

He added “To me, he did what he had to do to walk home. He said what he had to say to be a free man. All the players is dead right now. He gon’ win, or he gon’ lose.”

Mopreme Shakur

Mopreme Shakur, Tupac’s brother, is glad that someone is finally arrested for the case but he doesn’t think it’s over yet. He says that Keefe D’s arrest has made the trauma of Tupac’s death resurface and it hurts for the whole of the Shakur family.

Sekyiwa

According to a report by TMZ, Tupac’s sister, Sekyiwa has also said a few words regarding the case. She reiterated Mopreme’s words, only in more words.

“It’s important to me that the world, the country, the justice system, and our people acknowledge the gravity of the passing of this man, my brother, my mother’s son, my father’s son. His life and death matters, and should not go unsolved or unrecognized, so yes, today is a victory but I will reserve judgment until all the facts and legal proceedings are complete.”

We hope to see justice served.
