[FIRST LOOK] OWN’s Critically Acclaimed Drama Series “Queen Sugar” Returning This Month

It’s that time of the year again for the critically acclaimed drama series Queen Sugar to return to OWN.  Queen Sugar season four begins on June 12th at 9 PM E/T P/T. There has already been key art as well as an enticing trailer, which leaves you wanting more once you watch it. The critically acclaimed drama series tells a story of the Bourdelon siblings who reside in Louisiana.

The family consists of Nova (Rutina Wesley), who is a journalist and activist, Charley (Dawn-Lyen Gardner) a wife and manager of a basketball player and Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) formerly incarcerated father who is seeking redemption. After a horrific event, the siblings must put all the troubles in their lives aside and unite in order to run the clans struggling sugar cane farm. They also have their Aunt Violet and family friend Remy Newell who is involved with the farm.

This season the drama-filled series continues as The Bourdelon family finds out that Nova is in the process of publishing her memoir which unveils the families long-held secrets. This not only brings tension amongst the family at home but heartbreak as well. With Nova beginning her book tour this not only adds to the fire brewing in the Bourdelon home but brings unexpected encounters. She is also faced with significant relationships from her past.

While trying to ensure the safety and future of her son Micah (Nicholas Ashe), Charley continues facing trials and tribulations presented in her personal and professional life. She also has her hands full battling the Landry family. Despite Ralph Angel knowing that Blue (Ethan Hutchison) isn’t his son, he’s still managing fatherhood and his relationship with ex-girlfriend Darla (Bianca Lawson). He also received encouragement from an old friend to create opportunities for formerly incarcerated men.
