Even as an avid fan of both Tyrese and Tank, I would be hard pressed to try to convince you that they have 20 hits a piece. Hits? Nonetheless, the two singers have amazing individual catalogs, and the joint TGT album is responsible for another solid group of bangers. The Tank vs Tyrese Verzuz is a battle of the Capricorns – with Tyrese being born on December 30th and Tank being born on January 1st.
Tyrese Gibson entered the entertainment industry in the late 90s with a model look and a Coca Cola commercial. Girls fell in love and his early hits, “Sweet Lady,” and “Lately” helped him garner a large fanbase. When he shifted to acting, the transition made perfect sense, captivating in films like Baby Boy before becoming a mainstay in the Fast and Furious Franchise. With seven albums in the game, and a number of featured appearances on songs with Chingy, Da Brat, and of course the Best Man soundtrack, Tyrese is a formidable opponent for most male R&B singers.
But, then there’s Tank. He entered the chat in 2001 with his debut album and the infectious hit, “Maybe I Deserve.” Mainstream success wasn’t a guarantee for him though. Consistency made him a household name for R&B lovers all these years later. His pen game and production got him credits with Aaliyah (“Come Over”), Omarion “O”), Chris Brown (“Ya Man Ain’t Me”), Monica (“Sideline Ho”) and many more. Remaining in people’s headphones and your favorite artists’ credits helped him deliver 10 solo albums. Even if he doesn’t use any of the songs he has credits on, Tank can probably use just go with 2 songs from each project and be in a good position to come out the Verzuz as a winner.
Like we have done previously with these Verzuz battles, prepare for a round by round break down of the Tank vs Tyrese Verzuz.
