Prior to today, The-Dream released his last album back in December 2018, a three part project titled, Sextape. Released altogether, the project featured 40 new songs, but there was no clear standout tracks and the project became a bit of a rare miss in his illustrious career. Recently The-Dream announced his latest project, the next installment of that album, Sextape 4.
Despite these times, The-Dream is gearing up to release the album as planned on its original release date. The new The-Dream Sextape 4 album was released on April 17th. The-Dream acknowledged on his instagram that he thought about delaying the project, but decided against it. “Honestly, I didn’t want to put it out with what’s going on in the world and here! I had so many people tel me , NO music is what we need right now more than ever. Love and Blessings to everyone touched by this moment in our lives.”
He also acknowledged in another post that the first project might not have it been it. “Ummmmm, The GODS called me , they said your Album wasn’t it. So, I stopped sewing and shit just to Throw my dick on the table. Atl Ho! Independently Washing niggas since 07!”
Recently The-Dream also worked with Jay Electronica and Jay-Z on the Jay Electronica debut album, A Written Testimony. The-Dream also participated in an epic Verzuz battle put together by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland where he faced off against Sean Garrett in a songwriter/producer battle. Many heralded The-Dream as the champ by the time the event was over. While my score might have been a bit different, it is no doubt that The-Dream showcased his extraordinary range and talent.
