Years ago I met with one of the co-founders of Esrever Wines, long before the product was ever created, to talk about the steps to needed to be taken to get a Black-owned wine brand off the group and into market. At the time the concept was still just an idea, but the name remained unchanged. In late 2017 the brand became a reality, after tons of market research and product development and now the brand continues to grow and thrive, despite many obstacles and potential setbacks.
Launched by three friends from Queens, NY, Esrever Wines signature wine is a sparkling white wine blend of Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. It is available for online orders with pick-up options in Brooklyn and Queens, NY, but they also ship to almost every state in the United States. More recently they launched their flavorful Moscato with orange zest.
Tragically, in late 2020, one of the co-founders, Ashanti Middleton, the one I talked about meeting with earlier in the story, passed away, gone way too soon. Persevering through tragedy, the brand continues to break barriers in an industry that is dominated by big names and major players. Jasmine Mizani and Tiqua-Ann Middleton are going to continue what the trio started, inevitably, one day they will be a major player in this business.
