Good Burger 2 has been approved by Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount+. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell will return as Dexter Reed and Ed in this sequel to the 1997 film Good Burger.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon broadcast on March 17 (Friday) featured the unexpected reveal.

In the follow-up, Dexter and the original cashier Ed will rejoin at the fast-food joint Good Burger in the present with a humorous new staff.

The movie’s shooting is scheduled to start in May, with a release date later this year that will only air on Paramount+. The segment from Nickelodeon‘s comedy program All That, which starred Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson, served as the inspiration for the film Good Burger.

After yet another one of his inventions fails, Dexter Reed is in bad shape in Good Burger 2. When Dex stops by Good Burger, Ed gives him his old job back and welcomes him with wide arms. Working with a fresh group, Dex comes up with a scheme to get back on his feet while simultaneously jeopardizing the future of Good Burger.

‘Good Burger 2’ Will Release Later This Year

In a statement regarding the feature film order, Thompson said, “I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since great customer service was born at Good Burger! Being a part of something so many generations of people have come to love has made me so proud and now to be back where it all began working on the sequel is surreal! Love performing with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans what these characters have been up to since we last saw them.”

Mitchell also expressed his thoughts on the sequel. “Ed is one of those timeless characters that has brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and it’s such a beautiful blessing to still be doing it after all these years. It’s super awesome to come back and continue the stories of Dex, Ed and Good Burger for both the people who grew up watching and their kids.”
