The NBA star, Damian Lillard, and his wife, Kay’La, have announced their split. This week, Damian Lillard filed the formal documents to begin the divorce process in the state of Oregon.
Reports indicate that Damian Lillard submitted the paperwork necessary to divorce his wife, Kay’La Lillard, on October 2nd. In another section of the statement, he cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for their decision to go their separate ways. Further saying it “caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage.”
Both Damian Lillard and his wife Kay’la Hanson had been in dating for quite some time before taking the bold step to make it official. In 2021, the couple who had been dating while they were students at Weber State University according to rumors finally tied the knot.
Prior to it, they had already welcomed three children into their family. In March of 2018, they had their first child, a son named Damian Jr. The couple decided to expand their family and was overjoyed to learn of the arrival of their identical twins, a girl named Kali Emma Lee Lillard and a boy named Kalii Laheem Lillard.
The athlete has been sharing images on his Instagram account showing him spending time with his children; however, his wife does not appear in any of the photos. There were reports going around that the couple hadn’t been together in approximately ten months, which would make sense to the speculation they have been going through hard times.
Some fans claim Damian Lillard looks unhappy after he filed for divorce after only 2 years of staying married.
Meanwhile, the NBA star is no longer affiliated with the Portland Trail Blazers where he played for 11 years. He recently switched to the Milwaukee Bucks.
