Detroit, MI home of Motown records and the Detroit Lions, was founded in 1701 and later became the capital of Michigan, before eventually giving the title up to Lansing, MI. Detroit is an urban city field with different attraction in the downtown area. Planning a visit here will be worth the tour when you check out some of the best restaurants in town. Including, Beans and Cornbread, a soul food restaurant, Lola’s, where there is both food and entertainment and the historic Whitney Mansion, which is now a hotel and dining place. The Whitney also has a club on the third floor, The Whitney Ghost bar.
The city goes bananas at night! If you love the night life than The Shadow bar is the place to be. With its three levels, the third level being for VIP only, Shadow will keep you amped up. Club Onex and Club Platinum are some of the other great clubs around the Detroit area. Looking for show girls? Get your wallets ready and go to the Crazy Horse where you’ll fine some of the best dancers and drinks.
Most people love to shop while on vacation. Hamtramck has everything! And if they don’t, hitting up Somerset Mall won’t fail you. Saks Fifth, Neiman Marcus, Caché and BCBG are just some of the stores to name. And Green Mile is the place to go for jewelry fanatics.
Before you take that trip back home don’t forget to engage into the wild life of Africa at the Detroit Zoo. You will get the vibe of not only Africa and it animals but also the Asian Forest, Australian Outback and the Arctic Ring of Life. Although polar bears are becoming extinct, you can see them first hand under water at the Arctic Ring. With the advanced coordinated landscaping it makes it more adventurous when taking a look at the kangaroos and wallabies. Detroit is definitely the city to consider when coming towards the Upper Peninsula.
