The Death Row Chronicles Miniseries Is Set To Come To BET In Summer 2018
Everyone’s been wondering about how the most notorious label of the West Coast went from something to almost nothing. Now, we’ll finally get some real insight on the California-based label and the people behind it. According to Billboard, BET is currently working on bringing forth a six-hour miniseries about the rise and fall of Death Row Records, titled Death Row Chronicles.
The miniseries will be divided into six hour-long episodes, premiering sometime in 2018. Unlike The New Edition Story, Death Row Chronicles will lean more towards the documentary side. BET described the project as ‘part true-crime murder mystery and part hip-hop drama’. The documentary drama will show viewers the tainted troubles of the 90s label and the industry drama that followed.
Originally founded by Dr. Dre, The D.O.C., Dick Griffey, and Suge Knight, Death Row Records was the premier record company for many of, what we now know as, the West Coast greats. With an all-star roster that once included Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, MC Hammer, Michel’le, and Nate Dogg, among others, the label provided us with most of the timeless hits we still listen to today.
No further details have been revealed yet, but we’re hoping that closer to its release, we’ll have extensive details soon.
BET broke out with New Edition’s three-part biopic miniseries–which premiered back in January, bringing in millions of viewers and surpassing ratings all across the board. So, we’re almost sure that the same success will match Death Row Chronicles.
