What if you could channel your inner James Bond when gambling online?

Baccarat is one of the best online games, and it’s the same game favored by everyone’s favorite secret agent. But if you want to be as lucky at the table as Bond, you’re going to need a good baccarat strategy.

Want to know how even a beginner can play like a pro? Check out our guide on the best online baccarat strategy!

Practice, Practice, Practice

The first bit of advice is simple: you need to practice playing baccarat until you understand the game inside and out.

While it’s fun, baccarat is not a game most people grow up playing. Therefore, you may not be as familiar with various rules and strategies when you first get started.

Our better strategies below will help you out, but it’s also important to get comfortable with the mechanics of the game. That way, you won’t feel rushed or panicked when you’re betting in a really solid live casino.

Don’t Try to Tie

There are only a few bets you can make in baccarat. You can bet on the banker, the player, or bet on a tie.

One simple rule for all gambling is that you research the house edge and make your bets accordingly. In this case, the house has a huge edge with tie bets: 14.4%!

You are much better off pursuing the other bets because they have lower edges for you to worry about. On top of that, when you only have two bets to worry about, it’s easy to follow a streamlined strategy.

Carefully Manage Money

Before we get to the strategy, we have a simple warning: you need to know your limits when you’re gambling online.

We’re not talking about your physical limits or your energy limits, though it’s good to know those as well. But the most important thing is understanding how much money you are willing to lose.

It’s good to establish a kind of “budget” for a session of baccarat. The idea is pretty straightforward, if you blow through that budget, then you take a break and play on another day.

This money management strategy is meant to keep you from gambling yourself into the poor house. If you’ve been consistently losing, it’s time to throw in the towel. Don’t throw good money after bad and assume you’ll win it all back!

With that in mind, here are a few simple baccarat betting strategies.

Bet On the Bank

Obviously, there are no “sure things” in gambling. That’s why it’s fun! But there are certain bets that are likelier to win than others.

When you first sit down, it’s wise to bet on the banker. Why? Simple — he’s going to win just a little over 50% of the time.

Your longterm strategy is going to involve hopping from banker to player and back again. But for your first bet, you might as well make a bet that is likelier to win!

Be Prepared to Change Bets

The idea of jumping back and forth on bets may sound annoying and exhausting. But what you are hoping to find is someone on a winning streak.

If someone keeps winning, it’s good to bet on them. The more they make, the more you’ll make!

At the same time, you should be prepared to change bets. For example, the banker is going to lose sooner rather than later. When that happens, you should be prepared to change your bet.

Wait For The Right Moment to Ditch Banker

Does this mean you should ditch the banker as soon as he loses? Nope! Instead, you should see how the next bet plays out.

The banker may lose once and then immediately go back to winning. But if he loses again, his streak is officially broken and you may be looking at the beginning of a player streak.

That’s your cue to start betting on the player. Don’t worry, though: you’ll be betting on the bank again before you know it.

Don’t Pay Attention to Ties

You’ve probably noticed the essence of this betting strategy is really simple. You are simply looking at who wins and who loses and adjusting your bet as time goes on.

That brings up a good question, though — what about ties where neither side wins?

For the purposes of our betting strategy, you can ignore ties altogether. So, a tie would not break a streak for either side. Just ignore it and wait to see the outcome of the next play.

Player Betting: A Simple Strategy

So, the banker has lost a couple of decisions and you’re now betting on the player. Where do you go from here? Fortunately, this strategy is nice and simple!

Keep betting on the player until he loses. Here’s the twist, though: once he loses, immediately go back to betting on the banker. It’s not worth it to wait through an additional decision.

Everything goes back to that house edge we mentioned before. Because the banker continuously has a slight edge, the majority of your bets will be on him throughout the night!

Mini-Baccarat: A Different Strategy

When you’re playing baccarat online, you may encounter many different gameplay options. One of them has an innocent-sounding name: “mini-baccarat.”

It might as well have a different name, “speed baccarat.” In these games, you can expect to make 4-5 times as many bets as you do in a regular game session.

That can be either very good or very bad: you can win big or lose it all in a short period of time. Either way, though, you’re going to need an even more streamlined betting strategy.

In mini-baccarat, start by betting on the banker and then switch to a player bet as soon as the banker loses. When the player loses, you go back to betting on the bank.

This simpler strategy gives you fewer things to think about for the fast-moving game while still giving you better odds of making a profit.
